Where the West Comes Alive: The 2025 West Texas Ranch Rodeo Returns to Amarillo

There’s a certain kind of grit that defines the Texas Panhandle. It’s in the dust that clings to boots, the cattle that thunder across the plains, and the steady hands of working cowboys who carry on a legacy carved from hard work and heritage. Once a year, that spirit roars to life under the lights of the Amarillo National Center—and in 2025, the West Texas Ranch Rodeo is back and bigger than ever.

Mark your calendars for April 11–12. This isn’t your average rodeo—it’s a full-blown tribute to ranch life, the people who live it, and the community that supports them.

Held at the Amarillo Tri-State Fairgrounds, this two-day event is a high-energy, family-friendly celebration of cowboy culture. It draws ranch teams from across the region to compete in events that reflect the real, day-to-day work of the ranch: bronc riding, stray gathering, trailer loading, wild cow milking, and branding. These aren’t stylized performances—they’re fast-paced contests that echo the raw, unfiltered realities of life on the range.

It’s Amarillo’s premier ranching event, and one of the most anticipated weekends on the calendar.

Friday night kicks off the action with rodeo performances starting at 6 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults, and kids 12 and under get in free—making it a perfect night out for the whole family. Saturday is stacked from sunup to sundown, featuring everything from the Youth Ranch Rodeo (where the next generation of cowhands gets to show what they’re made of) to the finals of the World Championship Blacksmiths competition, where farriers from around the world go head-to-head in a contest of craftsmanship, precision, and speed. Saturday night’s main rodeo event starts at 6 PM, and adult tickets are $25.

Beyond the arena, the vendor show opens Friday at 5 PM and Saturday at noon, offering a curated selection of western wear, tack, art, and handmade goods. Whether you’re outfitting your ranch wardrobe or just soaking up the atmosphere, there’s something here for everyone.

This is more than a rodeo—it’s a gathering of ranchers, families, craftsmen, and fans. It’s a chance to honor the past, celebrate the present, and support the future of the West.

If you’re in Amarillo—or even a few hours away—this event is worth the trip. It’s not just a spectacle, it’s a statement. One that says the cowboy way is still alive and thriving.

And for storytellers like me at Roosevelt Road Video, it’s exactly the kind of event we live to capture. There’s nothing more inspiring than seeing a community rally around the values that built it. We’ll be there with cameras rolling, soaking in the dust, the action, and the moments that matter.
